Gamer fined £16 000 for sharing game files online

Well, gone are the days when people used to share files online and get away with it. A computer game fan has been ordered to pay more than £16 000 after being found guilty of sharing a game over the Internet. She just wanted to have a bit of fun playing Pinball with friends on her PC. She was tracked down via the P2P network she used.

"This is significant for people who sit in their darkened rooms and think they can act with immunity," said Internet law expert Leigh Ellis.
"There is no right to protection of their details when they are infringing the law."

The damages were a calculation of how many copies were downloaded, multiplied by the retail price.
