Sony starts high street console price war with the launch of a cheaper PS3 Slim

Sony has sparked a high street price war by slashing the cost of its PlayStation 3 games console. A Slim version, the PS3 Slim console goes on sale next month for £249.

The PS3 Slim console is £50 cheaper than the current PlayStation 3 model. High street stores were expected to cut the price of the current PS3 console to a similar price in a bid to reduce stock before the PS3 Slim arrives.

Experts said today the move could spark a price war between Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft. Microsoft could be forced to cut the price of its Xbox games console. This is really good for consumers as this comes just months before Christmas.
